Coach Waqar Younis hopes Pakistan can put a turbulent build-up to the ICC World Twenty20 behind them as they begin their campaign against Bangaldesh in Kolkata on Wednesday. Pakistans participation in the competition was a doubt up until last week, when they were given clearance by their government to travel to India following security concerns.Their preparations were undermined further earlier this week when captain Shahid Afridi defended comments he made over the adulation he receives in India. Younis, though, was strictly focused on the task at hand and he will urge the same from his players before they take to the field at Eden Gardens. He said in a press conference broadcast on the Pakistan Cricket Boards official website: We had a bit of drama before coming here, we had a bit of controversy yesterday also. Shahid Afridis comments caused some controversy My message to the boys will be to leave everything behind because this is about playing for the nation, this is about playing some quality cricket and theyre all capable of playing good cricket. We are the kind of team that once we click, once we get the momentum going, we can surprise people.Of Afridis remarks, the former fast bowler added: I didnt find anything that controversial in it. This is something he felt, so I believe we should leave that rather than talk more about it. Pakistan won the competition on its second staging in England in 2009 but their recent form has been poor, with series defeats to England and New Zealand in the last six months and an early exit in the Asia Cup.Indeed in that tournament they suffered a surprise defeat to Bangladesh, who went on to reach the final on home turf, although Younis, while not underestimating the Tigers, believes conditions will be more neutral this time.He said: I have seen the wicket, definitely different conditions to Bangladesh. But when you play good cricket, conditions do not really matter that much. Bangladesh cricket captain Mashrafe Bin Mortaza I think Bangladesh are playing very good cricket so weve got to be really watchful and we have to come out really strong to beat them.Bangladesh reached the Super 10s stage, where they will also face Australia, India and New Zealand, after topping their first-round group with victories over Holland and Oman. Bangladesh are hoping Mustafizur Rahman will be fit Skipper Mashrafe Mortaza said in quotes on the Dhaka Tribune: There is nothing called impossible in Twenty20 cricket. We are here to play and play well. We want to play our best possible cricket. I am confident that the way we are performing at the moment, we have no thing much to worry about.Bangladesh will be hoping to call upon Mustafizur Rahman, the left-arm seamer who has exploded onto the scene in limited-overs cricket but has not played since last month because of a side strain.Sky Sports is the only place you can watch all 35 games in 27 days of the 2016 ICC World T20. Michael McIlorum scored two tries to give the Warriors a 10-0 lead at half-time at the DW Stadium on Friday night, and though Dragons hit back with a try of their own within three minutes of the start of the second half, the visitors were unable to orchestrate a famous fightback in their first outing of the new campaign.Matty Smith then added a penalty to close out a game that was plagued by poor weather from the outset. The heavens had opened in the minutes that led to kick-off, and the weather remained a constant damper on the game throughout. It was the Dragons who were most bothered by the slippery conditions initially, as handling errors eroded several attacking opportunities. Ben Flower is tackled by Jason Baitieri of Catalans Dragons McIlorum then opened the scoring when one such handling error from the visitors saw the ball spilled right in front of their line in the tackle, and the hooker pounced to cross the whitewash. The video referee was asked to check that there had been no foul play to free the ball but he confirmed there had been none, and Wigan led 4-0 after the conversion was missed.Catalans were not deterred in their desire to play running rugby, but perhaps should have been, as more handling errors decorated their opening quarter. The Perpignan sides problems were then compounded when McIlorum scored his second. The Warrior passed to George Williams, who stepped the defence before offloading to McIlorum in support, with the latter diving over for the try. Matty Smith slotted the conversion to give his side a 10-point lead. Wigans Michael McIlorum scores his second try against the Dragons The Dragons threatened to come back into it but the Wigan defence was resolute in the mud, and the visitors were unable put any kind of dent in the deficit as the scorre remained 10-0 at half-time.ddddddddddddHowever, Catalans started the second half with purpose, and Richie Myler spotted a gap behind the defence early on to put a perfectly weighted kick into the in-goal area.Wigans Lewis Tierney looked comfortable in his attempt to shepherd the ball out, but Justin Horo squeezed through and grounded the ball to hand former Wigan star Pat Richards an important conversion attempt. The conversion was sent over, and it looked like Catalans were back in the game. Reaction from man-of-the-match Michael McIlorum, Warriors coach Shaun Wane and Catalans counterpart Laurent Frayssinous They continued to grow into the encounter, looking the more threatening of the two sides for long periods, but the Warriors defence held out to frustrate the opposition. When the Dragons were penalised in front of the poles in the 54th minute, Matty Smith opted to kick for goal and landed the opportunity to take a 12-6 lead. The pressure seemed to tell for the Dragons, who then began to suffer again from the handling errors that kept them out in the first half, and with conditions deteriorating even further, neither side was able to add another score.Watch Wigan in Super League action away to Huddersfield next Friday, live on Sky Sports 1 HD from 7.30pm.
