DAVIE, Fla. -- Miami Dolphins defensive end Jason Jones has been suspended without pay for two games for violating the NFL substance abuse policy.The suspension stemmed from Jones arrest last offseason for operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated, a person familiar with the situation said Monday. The person confirmed the arrest to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the reason for the suspension was not publicly disclosed.In a statement issued through the team, Jones apologized to his teammates, his coaches and the organization. The Dolphins also released a statement from the organization.Jason notified the team of this situation when it occurred, and has been in regular contact with the NFL, team officials and his coaches throughout the process, the Dolphins said, without providing details about the situation. Jason recognized and apologized for his lapse in judgment and has fulfilled his legal obligations.The suspension begins immediately, and Jones will be eligible to return to the active roster Dec. 5.Fortunately no one was hurt because of my actions, Jones said.
