Oxlade-Chamberlain has, he should not be haCrew battles have settled regional rivalries throughout Super Smash Bros. Melees history, and this weekend the northern California scene is looking to restore its good name. Michigan Smash major The Big House 6 on Oct. 7-9 will run its second annual regional crew battle tournament, featuring eight crews from the US as well as Canada and Europe.A crew battle is a competition between two teams of five players each where players take turns playing one vs. one matches. The winner of a match carries over his remaining stocks, or lives, to play the next person on the other crew. The process is repeated until a team runs out of players. The team with players remaining is deemed the winner. In recent years, NorCal has established itself as one of the strongest regions in the world, featuring players such as DaJuan Shroomed McDaniel and Zachary SFAT Cordoni along with a slew of players that routinely finish in the final brackets of majors. Despite their talent, they failed to live up to high expectations at last years crew exhibitions by losing in the first round to Canadas crew.Team NorCal started strong, gaining a three stock lead as Roustane Kage Benzeguir was the only player left for Canada. Kage needed to take a total of seven stocks, including four of Shroomeds stocks, to advance into the next round. The circumstances looked grim, but Kage stepped up to the challenge as he defeated Kyle dizzkidboogie Athaydes Ice Climbers and then proceeded to dismantle Shroomed in embarrassing fashion to steal the victory. Cheers roared as a fan proudly waved a Canadian flag in the crowd and NorCal drifted away with their heads down.A Year of RedemptionA year later, NorCal seeks redemption after that disappointing first-round exit. Fortunately, they come with a much stronger five-man lineup as Kevin PewPewU Toy and Michael Nintendude Brancato join the likes of dizzkidboogie, Shroomed, and SFAT. Although NorCal had a large pool of players to choose from, they included two Ice Climbers players to take advantage of the no stage bans rule, giving them a strong counter-pick on Final Destination. Not everyone agrees with their lineup decision, but, as SFAT explained, I feel that our core four players, PewPewU, Nintendude, Shroomed, and myself, are the strongest and Kyle has improved so much over the past year and has proven himself with his crew battle performances at Shine 2016.More importantly, SFAT felt that PewPewU was the missing ingredient from last years crew. SFAT remarked, Unfortunately, PewPewU couldnt make it last year to The Big House 5, but hes our glue guy and makes sure that we are mentally positive. When I play with him in doubles, hes always the player that keeps our heads in the game. We didnt have the right mindset for last years crews and I felt that was a big reason why we lost. With a lineup that has four top-20 level players, team NorCal comes in very confident. Crews such as SoCal, Florida, and Europe also come in with stacked five-man lineups which would give any competition some pause for thought. SFAT gave his assessment: I believe that Europe looks a little weak and Im most scared of Florida, but we have the pieces to beat any team as long as we make the right decisions in our-counter picks. It will be a tall order for NorCal to defeat Florida, which has Evolution Championship Series 2016 champion Juan Hungrybox Debiedma, fellow Melee god Jason Mew2King Zimmerman and Justin Plup McGrath. SoCal is also fearsome, with god Joseph Mango Marquez along with an all-star lineup of top-20 players. Europe offers its finest in god Adam Armada Lindgren and potentially William Leffen Hjelte. Regardless, NorCals positive mindset is arguably the most important trait to have for crews as players need to adapt quickly while not succumbing to the pressure of the roaring crowds and cross-regional trash talk.Despite the competition, Shroomed believes that his region will come through. He quipped, We can win, one hundred percent, as long as SFAT and I do our parts against the other gods when we face them. We all have to pull our weight, but we can do it.Cheap Air Force 1 China . Manuel was offered a position the day he was fired. He accepted earlier this week and the team made the announcement Friday. Balenciaga Triple s Wholesale . -- Sergey Tolchinksy scored his second goal of the game 3:56 into overtime as the Sault Ste.Two certainties about this season:The?Florida Panthers Jaromir Jagr will continue to defy age and score goals. The Calder Trophy race between the early front-runners -- Patrik Laine of the Winnipeg Jets and Auston Matthews of the Toronto Maple Leafs -- will rage on for the entire season if both rookies remain healthy. The start of the regular season has revealed unlikely developments, including the?San Jose Sharks Brent Burns?vying for the league lead?in scoring. Between the pipes, Montreal Canadiens backup Al Montoya is second among all goaltenders with a .962 save percentage, and?Edmonton Oilers goalie?Cam Talbot has five wins.Theres plenty of hockey left to be played, and the faces of those statistical categories will change soon. But here are five early predictions that will hold up:Carey Price will lead the Canadiens back to the postseason. He suffered a season-ending knee injury last November, but Montreals No. 1 netminder returned to health and led Team Canada to a World Cup of Hockey championship last month in Toronto. Once the regular season began, however, he was sidelined again with what was diagnosed as a severe case of the flu. He missed the first three games and the Canadiens went 2-0-1 with Montoya in net.Price made his season debut Thursday and posted a 27-save performance to help Montreal win 5-2 over the Arizona Coyotes?at Bell Centre. If Price can stay healthy, the Canadiens could compete for the top spot in the Atlantic Division. Montoya has been solid, but it says here that Price will have a productive season and lead his team into the Stanley Cup playoffs in the spring. The?Tampa Bay Lightning?are not in trouble. Its too early to claim a team is inconsistent, but after starting 3-0-0, the Lightning were ravaged in a 4-0 loss to the Colorado Avalanche (3-1-0) on Thursday at home. That loss will serve as the early-season wakeup call the Lightning need. The Avalanche look like a team that will contend for a playoff spot in the Central Division, but Tampa, the team many experts predicted would win the Stanley Cup in 2017, should not be shut out by Colorado.Expect the Lightning to enjoy more consistent play, and they will be rewarded with reaching the century mark in points after finishing with?97 in 2015-16.The Ducks will heat up, the Canucks will cool off. The Anaheim Duccks are 1-3-1 in the first five games, which is a little bit concerning since they won the Pacific Division last season with 103 points.dddddddddddd Take a deep breath and recall how the Ducks began the 2015-16 season: losing nine of 10 before turning it around. The Ducks are too good to falter much longer. Plus, the teams first five games were on the road. The Ducks opened at home on Sunday against the Vancouver Canucks, who happen to be 4-0-0. This category is twofold: The Ducks will start winning games consistently, and the Canucks will cool off. After all, the addition of forward Loui Eriksson is a massive help for the Canucks, but Vancouver cant sustain this type of success for the entire season, right? Maybe the Canucks will prove everyone wrong.Brad Marchand will score 40 or more for the Bruins. The ink on his new eight-year, $49 million contract extension with the Boston Bruins isnt even dry yet, but the top-line winger has carried his World Cup of Hockey momentum into the regular season. After his short-handed goal with 43.1 seconds remaining in regulation led Team Canada to a 2-1 championship victory over Team Europe last month at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto, Marchand leads the league with three goals and six assists for nine points in five games. Even though he has a fat new deal, hes not the type of player to relax and go through the motions. He scored 38 goals last season and you can bet hell surpass that mark this season. The Oilers will keep scoring, as will the Senators (sort of). In the early going, Edmonton was tied for the NHL in team scoring, with 23 goals in six games. With a strong pool of talent, led by captain Connor McDavid, the Oilers should remain near the top of that category for the remainder of the regular season. The Ottawa Senators?have?18 goals each in five games. They are starting to cool off, but will likely still finish in the top 10 in the league in scoring thanks to the offensive production from defenseman Erik Karlsson, who already has two goals and five assists for seven points in five games. The Senators have missed the playoffs twice in the past three seasons, but they will compete for a postseason berth this spring.
