The Queensland Firebirds have announced two player signings ahead of the 2017 National Netball League (NNL) season.28 year old Caitlyn Nevins and 24 year old Laura Clemesha are the first of 10 player announcements for the Firebirds team.Nevins starred for the Firebirds in their back-to-back premiership season, whilst Clemesha has spent the last three seasons in the?Firebirds squad learning her trade under former club captain Laura Geitz and vice-captain Clare McMeniman.Nevins said she was delighted to start her NNL journey with the club closest to her heart.?Ive had so many wonderful seasons playing with the Firebirds and I couldnt be happier to pull on the purple dress again, Nevins said.Ive flourished in the environment under Rose (Jencke) and am excited to keep developing my game.?Clemesha said she was delighted to commit for a further two years and make a starting berth her own.Ultimately the Firebirds was where I always wanted to end up and it was all going to do with circumstances, Clemesha said.I always wanted to be somewhere I could have an on-court opportunity in 2017 and that was my main priority.Ive done my apprenticeship and I couldnt have asked for two better people to have worked under in Clare and Geitzy, but last year I definitely I felt I was in a position to step on the court, hold my own and take it to the shooters in the ANZ Championship.?Firebirds coach Roselee Jencke said she was delighted to secure the services of both Nevins and Clemesha.With two premierships to her name in two seasons, Caity has come in and slotted into this team perfectly, Jencke said.Her skills in the attack end and her leadership is pivotal to how we perform week in, week out.
