Olympic gymnast Beth Tweddle has been able to walk a few steps after undergoing surgery on her neck. The 30-year-old three-time world champion, who retired from gymnastics in 2013, crashed while training for Channel 4 TV programme The Jump.Tweddle hit a barrier on landing after executing a ski jump during training on Saturday and was airlifted to hospital in Austria. Her parents have now released a statement confirming she is making progress as she continues to recover from her injuries.The medical staff here in Austria have been fantastic, they have been so helpful, patient and incredibly attentive, said Ann and Jerry Tweddle.We cannot thank them enough for what theyve done for our daughter.
